If Your Stars Have Not Aligned, Your Planets Will on Wednesday

Planets Align

Starting Wednesday, January 20 all the way until February 20, 2016, the five biggest planets in the solar system will line up, and you’ll be able to see them if you know where to look.

We’ve not seen this kind of alignment of the planets with Earth since 2005, and we won’t see this happen again until 2018.  The best part is that you don not need a special telescope to view the celestial spectacle.

So where do we look?  Right before sunrise, look to the south.  Make sure you have a flat, unobstructed view because the planets will be low on the horizon.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will appear in his line.  Venus and Jupiter will be the easiest planets to see because they will be the brightest.  Mars, with its distinctive red glow, will be slightly harder to see because it will be the lowest on the horizon and will only be visible for a few moments right before the sun comes up.

The best way to see the planets is away from city lights.

So see… even if “our stars don’t align,” our planets will!
