BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Jackass Flats, Tales of the Deltaland and the Rio Grande is a book where many of the stories that have appeared on Throwback Thursday have come from.
Many of the stories that were covered are some of the most fascinating subjects; the Jagou Plantation, the Montezuma Cypresses, the old Market Square, and as far back as the conquest period. What is important in this whole scenario is that Rio Grande Valley is history is recorded. The oral tradition which is contained in this book was not just gathered out of cyberspace.
The video bank that KVEO has produced for Throwback Thursday’s was given to UTRGV to put in their archives to utilize as a teaching tool. There are some fascinating subjects in that range of video clips and they will surely serve well to teach the young ones in the next generation and the generations thereafter.
Accounts such as these are very necessary for the preservation of the continuance of our history of our story. What went in here was the life effort of so many people that made this part of the country and the rest is history.
