Villa del Mar in Alton

Another local and family-owned business is finding success right here in the Rio Grande Valley.

Villa del Mar is opening its sixth Mexican seafood restaurant.

The popular “mariscos” chain is moving into a newly renovated shopping center off South 23rd Street just south of Expressway 83 in McAllen.

Construction for the $125,000 project has already started with a completion date set for August.

Originally founded in Reynosa back in 1987, Villa del Mar opened four restaurants in Mission, Palmview, Alton and Pharr over the past few years.

The South 23rd Street location will be the company’s first location in McAllen.

It’s easy to see why Villa del Mar has found success in the Valley.

With the motto of “From the sea to your mouth,” the chain offers a variety of high-quality Mexican seafood dishes at a comfortable price.

Owner Angel Homer Villarreal told Action 4 News that one of the company’s strengths is that it is able to draw on supply chains from both sides of the border.

Villarreal said the company plans to look at other areas of the Valley for expansion over the next year.
