The United Soccer League decided Wednesday to suspended play for 30 days amid concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
“It was very clear from our owners that the health and safety of players, fans and staff was their top priority,” said USL CEO Alec Papadakis in a statement released Wednesday morning.
The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros’ home games scheduled for March 21st and April 4th are affected.
“Our primary concern is the safety and welfare of our fans, players, employees and staff,” said RGV FC President Ron Patel. “Like everything else going on, this is a preventive measure and we are happy to comply.”
The league said it will provide an update on the continuation of the 2020 season when it can.
