Two Cardinals Sign on To Play College Ball

(CBS 4 Sports) – It was a signing day on the Harlingen High School campus as one male and one female athlete signed letters of intent to play their sport the college level.

Our Lady of the Lake University, which is coached by former Harlingen High head coach Bryan Aughney, continues to scout the RGV for talent and added another from his former school by inking John Ortega to a letter of intent. The multi sports athlete also played basketball for the Cardinals. The infielder and pitcher is expected to be an immediate contributor for the Saints. 

On the hardwood, Ariel Leal overcame a season ending injury to her knee during her junior season and bounced back to have a solid senior year and helped the squad to a perfect district 32-6A record before falling in the Regional Quarterfinals to Edinburg High. Leal signed with Dallas Christian College to continue her hoops career.
