(CBS 4 Sports) – McAllen Memorial’s history of producing top flight D1 athletes is second to none in the Rio Grande Valley. Bradley Stephens , Matthew Kaufmann, and Trevor Speights are just a few of the players that have worn the powder blue in McAllen before stepping on the field at the collegiate level.
Campbell Speights, an incoming senior with the Mustangs has already amassed 4,973 rushing yards in three seasons. The younger Speights, has been a well sought out recruit by several football both regionally and nationally. When his older brother made a college decision, he made sure academics were a big part of that process. Campbell, who has been recruited by Incarnate Word, Tulane and others, elected to make not just a four year commitment, but at least a nine year one, by choosing the United States Naval Academy.
Speights took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to make his announcement.
Speights was a 6A second team all-state selection in 2018 for the Mustangs, leading them to the postseason.
