With an offer from Texas A and M University in the bank, Westyn Henderson had the opportunity to graduate early to prepare for the college level.
Instead, she opted to play her final season with her teammates in an attempt to pursue what she believed would be a special season for the bulldogs.
They didn’t disappoint
The team turned heads all year, and Westyn’s vision, skill on the ball and leadership played a huge role in the team’s success.
Once player safety and health became a concern, play was suspended. Despite the shortened season, Westyn never questioned her decision to play one more year with her teammates.
For her selflessness and extraordinary talent, McAllen High’s Westyn Henderson is this week’s DHR Health Athlete of the Week.
