Cowboys Going With Defense Over Wide Receiver In First Round

NFL Dallas

“With the first pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma.” Said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

That’s how the 2018 NFL Draft began. For the first time in the common draft era four quarterbacks were selected in the top 10.

As for the Dallas Cowboys they owned the 19th overall pick in the draft. Many people were thinking a wide receiver to replace Dez Bryant. There’s no doubt this team needs a playmaker on the outside, but Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and company decided to go in a different direction.

But Dallas goes for defense for the second-straight year. Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch was the first-round pick. The 2017 Mountain West Player of the Year is from Riggins, Idaho. Population of Riggins is 419 people and his graduating class was 10 students.

Being a Dallas Cowboy Vander Esch says he couldn’t be any happier.
