Back to Practice for Cowboys, Jason Garrett Talks Injuries

NFL Dallas

Hundreds of fans gathered today as the Dallas Cowboys returned to practice at the Star in Frisco.

The Cowboys with a number of injuries from their pre-season games. The first against the 49ers. Then against the Bengals. Head coach Jason Garrett was asked if it was worth playing first string players and risking injury before the season even starts.

“It’s always a balancing act. It always has been about how much you play guys to get them ready for the season versus putting them in a situation where they expose themselves to injury. We feel like they are more compromised than in the regular season than if they don’t play at all in the preseason. Now you take the cases independently. Certain positions need to play more in the preseason, certain positions need to play more together in the preseason, certain positions need to play less. We certainly don’t want to put anybody out there and expose them to injury.. the objective of playing guys in preseason games is to get them ready for the regular season.”

Coach Garrett says much of the practice this week will be on the light side. Next opponent for Dallas will be the Arizona Cardinals for a pre-season game on Sunday.
