SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – A conference is underway to help communities keep teens from substance abuse. For the next two days, Behavioral Health Solutions is hosting a social service conference in South Padre Island. Their goal is to unite healthcare and social service professionals for comprehensive workshops in reducing at risk factors.
Irwin Mendoza, Behavioral Health Solutions, “Really we’re just trying to embrace diversity and looking at ways of increasing protective factors and decrease risk factors so that youth are not tempted to go into substance abuse.”
Among the participants, Baylor College of Medicine, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Hidalgo County Task Force and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
