Valley residents prepare for tropical storm

News

Harlingen, Texas (KVEO)—Tropical storm Hanna continues to westward across the western Gulf of Mexico. Top winds are 40 mph with higher gusts. Landfall is expected near Baffin Bay southeast of Kingsville late morning to early afternoon Saturday.

A tropical storm warning stretches south through and along the coast of the Rio Grande Valley including coastal Cameron, all of Willacy and Northern Hidalgo counties.

In anticipation of the downpour expected in the Rio Grande Valley, some cities are distributing sandbags to residents.

A video taken by a member of our staff show long lines at Precinct 4, White Ranch Road where officials are distributing sand bags.
