HARLINGEN, Texas – The City of Harlingen is making improvements to drainage in order to minimize flooding.
The June floods were a serious wake up call on just how many parts of the city are prone to flooding. Since then, the city has identified and worked on 10 areas that need repairs. The city reports that 3 projects have been completed as of this past week.
Carlos Sanchez, Harlingen Assistant City Manager, “We’ve identified 10 projects. Three of those have been done by city public works crews. We have a couple more projects that should be done by the end of September.”
City leaders say they are prioritizing projects based on which area would be fastest to repair first. You can keep up with Harlingen drainage improvements at: http://www.myharlingen.us/page/article/248
