HARLINGEN, Texas (KVEO) – Over the weekend, hospitals around the Valley, including Valley Baptist, hit critical capacity.
According to Valley Baptist Health System, Harlingen and Brownsville facilities hit 102 and 101 percent occupancy.
More than 40 percent of the hospital’s occupants are COVID-19 positive or suspected patients.
“With us being in this situation, it’s really imperative that everybody does their part to help slow the spread of this disease,” said Dr. Christopher Romero.
Doctor Romero said hospital officials are looking into new ways to create more isolated areas in the hospital.
He also said the way to fight the spread of COVID-19 is to follow all state and national guidelines, including washing your hands and wearing a mask.
