BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Three Kings Day is here and many local bakeries are selling out of the famous Rosca De Reyes Pastry.
El Camino Bakery is one of the many bakeries in the valley celebrating Kings Day.
This holiday marks the day that three wise men found baby Jesus and brought him gifts.
The Rosca De Reyes Pastry contains a special porcelain baby Jesus and whoever finds it in their piece is in for a surprise.
“When you get it in the Three Kings Bread you throw a feast for him in his honor on February 2nd. It’s tradition that’s been going on for years,” said Betzabe Rincon, El Camino Bakery Manager.
If you were one of the chosen ones, a traditional dish people make is tamales.
The tradition is commonly celebrated by the Latino community and across the globe.
For many, this is a celebration that wraps up the holiday festivities.
