BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Three suspects are in custody following an aggravated robbery in Brownsville.
18-year-old Roberto Rojas, 29-year-old Hernan Gomez, and a juvenile male are behind bars after allegedly entering a home and taking a safe containing more than $7,000.
The victim said the suspects pointed a handgun during the robbery.
Friday, Cameron County officials confirmed the weapons were BB gun and air guns.
“BB guns or toy guns, they certainly appear to be the real thing, like I’ve mentioned before even if it’s a water gun if you intimidate it can be filed for the aggravated robbery or assault,” said Sheriff Omar Lucio.
Sheriff Lucio said the juvenile arrested is the victim’s brother, which made it easier for the suspects to find the safe.
All three suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery and organized criminal activity.
