AUSTIN, Texas – According to a media relations specialist with the Texas Lottery Commission, the winner has still not come forward to claim the Lotto Texas jackpot prize for the January 15th drawing.
The winner, who chose the cash value option, has 180 days from January 15th to claim their winnings, which after taxes will be $13,349,448.78.
The Texas Lottery also shares some helpful tips in order to protect your prize should you win:
- Sign the back of the ticket using your legal name. Provide only one signature, name, address, and phone number. This information should be up to date and match a valid ID.
- Scribbles, correction fluid, and other changes on a ticket could lead to questionable ownership and a possible investigation
- Submit a claim form with the ticket. The claim form contains valuable information for processing the claim.
Gary Grief, the executive director of the Texas Lottery also advises the winner to make sure they sign the ticket and seek financial and legal advice before claiming the ticket, “If you have the winning ticket, we encourage you to sign the ticket, put it in a safe place, seek financial and legal advice, and call the Texas Lottery before coming to Austin to claim the prize.” That number to call is 1-800-37-LOTTO (800-375-6886).
The winning Quick Pick ticket matched the six numbers, 16-34-38-40-49-54, and was purchased at Stripes Store 40922h located at 5301 McPherson Road in Laredo.
