EDINBURG, Texas – On Monday, Oct. 21, 30 students from districts within Region One ESC will receive donated Onyx Electronic Video Magnifiers (EVMs) or other assistive technology from Sight Savers America, a nationally expanding nonprofit organization that provides eye care and low vision services at no cost to qualifying individuals. All 30 students with severe visual impairment have met eligibility requirements to receive vision assistive technology. Region One Education Service Center is graciously hosting the event.
EVMs are more expensive than the average family can afford and are not covered by any type of medical insurance. The donation of this life-changing equipment was made possible thanks to generous funding from Reading Resource Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas, Brownsville Foundation for Health and Education, The George and Fay Young Foundation, and Vispero.
Location for this events will be at the Region One Education Service Center, 1900 West Schunior Avenue in Edinburg.
