Students treated to tasty treats and lessons

WESLACO, Texas — Weslaco ISD students were treated this afternoon to both a tasty treat and a tasty lesson.

The district’s Meals on Wheels program roasted corn on the cob for hungry students. Corn Roast Fest 2019 kicks off the districts summer meal program. Students also learning about the importance of vegetables and about healthy nutrition.

Dora Pena, Weslaco ISD Food Service Director, “They had a little history lesson about corn and of course cooking demonstrations and of course the best part they got to taste it.”

The Weslaco Summer Meal Feeding program will be providing lunch to children under the age of 18 at Gibson and Sunrise Hill Parks Monday through Friday until July 19th.
