PHARR, Texas – The City of Pharr is celebrating its one-hundred-eleventh birthday and today city leaders addressed the public during their 4th annual State of Pharr Address.
Mayor Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez said this is a great way to show residents the city’s progress, as well as showing how elected officials are keeping their word.
Hernandez added that the city has had a change in leadership to become more diverse.
Upcoming changes are also underway in downtown Pharr, but the mayor says the biggest highlight will be growth in infrastructure.
“The highway, the roads, the paving, the restructuring of them, the interchange of 281, as well the drainage which is dramatically affected all communities especially south Pharr and North Pharr to be honest and it’s costing millions of dollars and that comes to an end under my administration. I’m not going to kick that can down the road, we fix it now. It’s our problem, we want to invest money,” said Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez, Mayor of Pharr.
The City has invested $18 million on roads with an additional $45 million coming to the city from the RGV MPO.
Hernandez says he’s proud of city employees’ work led by the deputy city manager.
