Two suspects arrested for rioting, vandalism at protests

AUSTIN (KVEO) — Two men have been arrested for rioting and vandalism during the protest that took place in Austin.

The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Darius Deshawn Berkley, 22, for rioting at the Texas State Capitol Grounds and Gerald Govan Brown, 18, for connection to vandalism of the Texas State Capitol and assault of a trooper.

A release states the warrant for Berkley was obtained on for an incident that took place June 22.

Brown’s had multiple arrest warrants including felony criminal mischief-destruction, attempt to take a weapon from a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Both suspects were arrested on June 27.
