AUSTIN (KVEO) — Governor Greg Abbott will be temporarily pausing the reopening of the state.

Thursday, Abbott announced any further phases to open the state would be put on pause after a recent increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

“As we experience an increase in both positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, we are focused on strategies that slow the spread of this virus while also allowing Texans to continue earning a paycheck to support their families,” said Governor Abbott in the release.

It is also mentioned that businesses can continue to operate following the guidelines from the previous phase.
