Sheriff’s office confirms jogger shot from Mexican side

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Investigators confirming that a bullet that killed a man jogging along a levee by the Rio Grande came from Mexico.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says the department is working with authorities in Mexico to find the perpetrator. The victim, 57-year-old Miguel Angel Valdez Hernandez, died after being fatally shot in the waist area on June 18. The gunfire is believed to have come from a small white truck that was captured on surveillance video.
