Severe thunderstorms bring heavy rain to the Valley


RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS (KVEO) — Meteorologist Andrew Shipley is tracking severe thunderstorm moving east across the RGV on Saturday night.

9 p.m.: The severe thunderstorm warning has expired but the flash flood warning has not.

8:30 p.m.: The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 9 pm for part of eastern Hidalgo, western Cameron, and southwestern Willacy counties. This includes Harlingen, Raymondville, and La Feria. Expect wind gusts up to 60 mph and possible nickel sized hail.

These heavy thunderstorms have dropped 1 to 3 inches of rain as well to the Valley. A flash flood warning is effect until 11 pm for the same region. Remember turn around, don’t drown.
