Rio Grande Valley cities distributing sandbags to residents


RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – Rio Grande Valley cities are beginning to distribute sandbags ahead of the hurricane season.

Here is a list of the cities that are currently distributing or offering sandbags:


Service Center 1201 N Doolittle Road beginning Tuesday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Assistance is provided if you have special needs.

You must reside within the Edinburg city limits.

There is a limit of six bags


4101 N Bentsen beginning Tuesday at 9 am.

Drive-thru service, drive up and crew will fill and load into your vehicle.

Water bill & picture ID is required.

Limit of six bags, call public works at 681-4050 for more info.


Sandbags will be distributed at three locations:

  • Development and Research Center (850 W. Dicker Rd.)
  • Moore Baseball Park (400 E. Moore)
  • Pharr Events Center (3000 N. Cage Blvd.)

The sand bags are self-serve and will be distributed Tuesday and Wednesday between 1 pm and 8 pm.

Proof of Pharr residency is required, and you must bag your own bags.

There is a six-bag limit on households and a 12-bag limit on businesses.
