RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas – According to Rio Grande City officials, the driver of a red Dodge Charger veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into a police vehicle.
Officials said that the Rio Grande City Police Department received a call of a reckless driver in a red Dodge Charger driving westbound on 2nd Street by San Antonio Street.
According to the release a Rio Grande City Police Officer was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 83 towards El Paseo Drive when he witnessed the Dodge Charger passing vehicles through the center lane. The driver suddenly went into oncoming traffic and crashed into the officer’s patrol unit.
Officials have identified the driver of the Dodge Charger as 20-year-old Jovan Lee Gracia.

According to the release, Gracia was released from the hospital after refusing medical treatment, the officer is in good condition but remains at the hospital as a precaution.
Officials have charged Gracia with reckless driving, possession of inhalant/ingest volatile chemicals, and possession of controlled substance.
