Raymondville man dies in Kenedy County crash

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred on June 29. The fatality occurred at about 10:23 a.m., on US 77, approximately one and a half miles south of Armstrong in Kenedy County. Preliminary investigation revealed a Gold Dodge Ram pickup truck, occupied by a male diver and eight male passengers, was traveling north on US 77. The left rear tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle before overturning multiple times. 56-year-old Lucas Hernández Ruiz, a resident of Raymondville, a passenger, was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. Passengers were transported by ground to Kleberg Christus Spohn in Kingsville and by Halo Flight to Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen. DPS Troopers are further investigating the fatal crash.
