PHARR, Texas (KVEO) — PSJA ISD teacher, Michael Sweet, was recently honored with the Charles Pickitt Elementary School Teacher of the Year Award by the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE).
Michael Sweet is a teacher at Edith & Ethel Carman Elementary in the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo School District.
According to the release, the Charles Pickitt Educator of the Year Awards recognize ATPE members who demonstrate exceptional or innovative capabilities in their respective educational fields.
Mr. Sweet was given a $5,000 prize along with his award.
“Congratulations to Mr. Sweet on behalf of our PSJA family,” said Chief of Academics Dr. Rudy Treviño. “Thank you for representing us and being an inspiration for generations of educators to come.”
The award ceremony was streamed online virtually.
