Premature baby found at McAllen Border Patrol Station

A premature baby was found in the overcrowded McAllen Border Patrol Station rather than a hospital.

The 17-year-old Guatemalan mother had an emergency cesarean section in Mexico early May and crossed the Rio Grande with the baby June 4th. Sources say the underage mother was found in the facility in a wheelchair hunched over with her baby covered in sweatshirts

An immigrant advocate saying the baby should be in a tube with a heart monitor and not a detention facility.

Alex Azar with the Health and Human Services Department and DHS acting secretary, Kevin McAleenan telling Congress this week that the immediate passage of emergency funding is necessary to protect the life and safety of unaccompanied children.
