Police officer arrested for driving while intoxicated


HARLINGEN, Texas – A Police officer with the City of Harlingen has been arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

On October 5, 2019, around 3:31 A.M., Harlingen Police responded to the parking lot of a Chili’s located at 1700 Block of West Tyler Avenue in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

Officers discovered the driver of the vehicle asleep behind the wheel with the engine running. The male driver displayed red bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcoholic beverages.

The driver was then identified as Wilfredo Guerra, a Police Officer with the City of Harlingen. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Harlingen Police Department.

Guerra was given a $2,000 bond and has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay pending an investigation.
