EDINBURG, Texas – Nearly a thousand furry friends in the Rio Grande Valley have a chance at a new life after finding their forever homes thanks to you.
NBC and Telemundo teamed up over the weekend with shelters across the Valley for the 5th Annual Clear the Shelter’s Day. Waiving adoption fees with one goal – to save lives.
400 cats and dogs were adopted on Saturday from five shelters participating in the event. A total of 900 pets found new homes this month since our initiative kicked off.
Stephanie Baggett, PVAC Adoption lead, “It’s amazing seeing as many people come in just trying to take an animal home it’s a very, I can’t even explain it myself. It’s very uplifting, happy to see animals go home trying to give the opportunity to get them out of the shelter. We are a high intake facility. Animals come in from 80 to 100 daily and with this event seeing how many people came between both sites, it was just, it was awesome.”
Aiming to save more lives, the Palm Valley Animal Center and PAWS Center are offering $10 adoption fees for the remainder of the month.
