Organizations holding school supply drive to help those affected by floods

News

WESLACO, Texas — Several organizations and businesses are partnering to help those affected by the recent floods. The Facebook group “Mercedes Will Drain Again” is joining “Texas Valley Sports” as one of several organizations in hosting a school supply drive. It’s scheduled for Saturday, July 13th at 6:00 p.m. at Golazo Soccer Field in Pharr. A donation box will be set up where you can drop off your school donations.

Organizers say some residents have lost everything and ahead of the upcoming school year they want to help families.

Daniel Villalpando, Texas Valley Sports, “The big thing is school supplies, clothes, really just basic needs. Unfortunately they went through a crisis with the floods, so a big thing is that we gotta help them, get the ball rolling – help the kids as much as possible – and help the parents get a load off their shoulders with school supplies.”

All the toys and school supplies collected from the drive will be distributed at the WesMer Drive-In on July 20th from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.
