Non-profits looking to help Valley flood victims

MCALLEN, Texas — Organizations who have assisted in disasters like the Boston snow storms of 2015 and Hurricane Harvey are looking to assist families in the Rio Grande Valley. As the Valley continues to recover from storm damage several organizations are looking to lend a helping hand.

Several world wide non-profit organizations are looking to assist residents with cleanup efforts. One of those organization is “Crisis Cleanup” a web based platform which connects disaster recovery organizations with people who need help.

Loren Dykes, lead operations crowd source rescue, “It’s all free and completely volunteer run that’s all all of our groups.”

If you need help Crisis Cleanup has setup the Rio Grande Valley Flooding Home Cleanup Hotline.

“That allows organizations that come in and help you clean up muck and rebuild. To be able to see the need in the area and basically claim your case if they want to come out to help you.” says Dykes.

Organizers say they know the need for assistance is vast.  They urge those who need help to call adding the more requesting relief could impact the amount of resources sent to the RGV.

Dykes adds, “Please call the deadline. It is July 17th. Please call and register your case. There is no guarantee that you will be helped from this but at least it gets your case out there and be able to be helped by these organizations.”

If you would like to ask for assistance or become a volunteer, call the Rio Grande Valley Flooding Home Clean Up Hotline at 956-465-4127. So far 65 cases for assistance have been accepted.

Local organizations looking to join Crisis Cleanup are asked to contact local representative Loren Dykes at 956-222-0368 or
