Nine more people test positive for COVID-19 in Hidalgo County, first case in Mercedes


HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas – Nine more people have tested positive in Hidalgo county, bringing the total to 27 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Currently, Hidalgo County Health and Human Services are working with the infected individuals to determine who they may have been in contact with and whether the infection was a result of travel. Those who may have had contact with these individuals will be contacted by county health officials.

With the first confirmed case coming out of Mercedes, the city of Mercedes has closed all city parks effective immediately and warns that the police department will be vigilant of this.

If you are stopped, it will be to educate and warn. The City of Mercedes is urging voluntary compliance so the virus does not spread further.

50 Female McAllen
15 Male San Juan
24 Female Pharr
43 Male McAllen
48 Female Mission
25 Female Weslaco
42 Male Pharr
