HARLINGEN, Texas – Christmas and 4th of July are big holidays for fireworks sales, but a local firework shop tells us the New Year is even bigger.
Alamo Fireworks in Harlingen is just one of many shops getting ready for New Years’ sales.
With the New Year right around the corner, these next couple of weeks is the best time to be in the fireworks business.
Local 23 was told the reason for that is because the New Year is celebrated by mostly everyone.
“Every year we have a pretty good turnout, but New Years is celebrated by everybody from both sides of the border as well as Christmas, 4th of July tends to be celebrated mainly on this side of the border so our sales are a bit lower,” said Rick Torres, an Alamo fireworks salesman.
For anyone planning on purchasing fireworks this New Year, experts suggest placing fireworks on hard, stable grounds to prevent it from falling over.
If there is an emergency, you are urged to call 911.
