New police officers for McAllen PD

News

MCALLEN, Texas – The McAllen Police Department welcoming 10 new officers as part of their 51st annual police academy graduation. A ceremony  marked the special occasion in front of city leaders, as well as family and friends of the new officers. The graduates completed a 21 week course. McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez says the department used a different approach with this graduating class. They assigned a command level staff member who was able to mentor, coach, counsel, and lead the group to graduation.

Capt. Hector Alcoser, Command Level Staff Member, “It’s a prideful moment for all of us. But me especially having the ability to interact with you. I want to tell you that your hard work, that your commitment paid off and we’ve talked about how much more you have ahead of you. The expectations we set in this department and how we will not lower our standards for anybody.”

Captain Alcoser adding this graduating class produced higher than normal marks on their state exams something not typical throughout the state.
