HOUSTON — In response to the United States government decision to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) condemned the organization and its ties with the Chinese Communist Party.
In a release, Senator Cruz states that he is has repeatedly raised concerns over the WHO and calls for a reevaluation of its leadership.
“The World Health Organization can no longer be trusted. It had an obligation to warn the world about the coronavirus. Instead, the organization helped the Chinese Communist Party cover it up,” said Cruz. “
Senator Cruz first condemned WHO in January after the organization excluded Taiwan from its board.
Then in April, Cruz challenged UN leaders to look into the WHO’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, which Cruz felt gave “remarkable deference to the Chinese government throughout this pandemic.”
Cruz has also claimed that Chinese Communist Party members worked to silence medical experts warning the public over the dangers of COVID-19 by using the WHO as a platform.
