PHARR, Texas – More than 250,000 trucks full of goods cross the Pharr International Bridge daily. Those crossings create billions of dollars worth of trade annually with Mexico. The Pharr Bridge is Number 1 for produce imports, with 60 percent of U.S. produce coming in from this bridge. Officials say over the next few years, they plan on investing $30 million in infrastructure inside the port of entry.

Eleazar Guajardo, Pharr Commissioner Place 1, “We cross many, many trucks in both directions, north and south. Those trucks generate thousands of jobs in the region. Our economy is driven by the transportation industry.”

The City of Pharr will be hosting a trucking expo on September 21st at the Pharr Events Center from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Companies from both sides of the border will be offering products, services, and jobs at this event.
