TEXAS – Progress Texas joins over 100 other statewide and national organizations demanding that Attorney General William Barr, Defense Secretary Mark Esper, and Acting-Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf immediately halt border wall construction to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive director for Progress Texas, Ed Espinoza says, “The Trump administration is putting border communities at increased risk of exposure to coronavirus by continuing border wall construction. Not only is the border wall a waste of resources and a distraction, but now it’s also a public health risk. These lawmakers must put ideology aside, listen to Texans, and halt construction immediately.”

Progress Texas also says after the president declared the coronavirus a national emergency, his administration announced plans to continue construction in every border state.
