Monarch butterflies on the way to the Rio Grande Valley

MISSION, Texas – The Monarch butterflies are en route to the Valley and the National Butterfly Center is waiting for their arrival. Due to the cold front only one or two have been spotted this fall. But visitors will soon be able to see them up close.

Luciano Guerra, National Butterfly Center, “They’re on their way. They have not reached us yet. It’s possible that after this cold front that’s coming in we might see the first wave of monarchs coming in. But they don’t usually arrive until till after Dia de Los Muertos around November 1st.”

There will be a Texas Butterfly Festival at the National Butterfly Center starting November 2nd. Just in time to see some of the Monarch butterflies.
