Migrants returned to Mexico

News

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – Mexico has taken in some 20,000 migrants seeking asylum in the U.S.

The migrants were bussed in from the border to Monterey to await the decision of the U.S. government.

Over just a few days at least 450 migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador have arrived in Monterey.

The Mexican government says it is trying to upgrade its shelters to abide by international law. Many of these migrants say they did not request asylum but tried to enter the U.S. illegally.
