Local pediatrician describes detention facility

News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — While immigration and immigrant facilities continue to be a hot topic across the country a local pediatrician’s visit to a detention center is making headlines.

Dr. Dolly Lucio Sevier reportedly saw a baby who’d been fed from the same unwashed bottle for days. Children showing signs of malnutrition and dehydration and several kids who, in her medical opinion, were exhibiting clear evidence of psychological trauma.

The doctor says the Ursula facility in McAllen has extreme cold temperatures, lights on 24 hours a day, no adequate access to medical care, basic sanitation, water, or adequate food.
