Weslaco police located badly decomposed remains in a field on Thursday.
The body of woman was found Thursday at about 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of Mile 9 at Farm-to-Market 1055, according to the Weslaco Police Department.
Homicide investigators found the unidentified woman who is in her 70s near a school.
The body was pulled from the field, and an autopsy has been ordered.
The Weslaco Police Department released information indicating the woman has been identified, but authorities are waiting to contact her family before releasing a name.
The department is investigating to verify if any criminal activity was involved.
