Authorities on Sunday charged a 20-year-old woman following the fatal hit-and-run crash near San Benito on Wednesday.

The hit-and-run crash claimed the life of 36-year-old David Ortiz Rosales Wednesday night on Farm-to-Market Road 2520, north of Farm-to-Market Road 675 near San Benito. An investigation into the crash was launched Thursday after authorities received a phone call at about 11 a.m., informing them of a body on the side of the road, CBS 4 News previously reported.

At about 1 p.m. Sunday, Sommer Rea Camacho, 20, turned herself in to the San Benito Police Department, according to information provided by Sgt. Johnny Hernandez, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The 20-year-old woman was charged with accident involving death, a second-degree felony. She was later transported to the Cameron County jail.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the fatal crash.
