The Texas Department of Transportation announces that the Bicentennial Project in McAllen, TX has reached a new milestone.  The westbound lanes will be shifted to a new westbound lane configuration.

The new two-lane configuration; and consequently, the new placement of concrete barriers, will take place tonight Thursday March 21, 2019 from 9PM to 5AM.  The traffic shift will take place overnight for one night only.

Anderson Columbia Co., a TxDOT contractor, will be performing this work on Interstate 2 between 2nd Street and 29th Street.  The eastbound lanes will remain open and unchanged at this time.

Motorists traveling overnight in the area will need to exit on the 2nd Street/10th Street Exit ramp to circumvent the work zone.  Drivers are asked to drive with caution and always be on alert for signage.  We ask that drivers increase following distance and obey the posted speed limits.
