Weslaco (Texas)–A Weslaco restaurant announced they would be giving out 200 meals on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a social media post from City Commissioner JP Rodriguez , Monterey Cafe will start giving out the meals at 5:30 p.m. It will be a maximum of two meals per vehicle, until they are gone.
The meal will include a “Monterrey” Burger, bag of chips and a soda. The restaurant is asking people to not walk up to the restaurant, for the safety of volunteers and employees.
Showing ID or proof of residency will not be required, but because it is an “honor system” the restaurant ask to please allow those that really need help to go first.
“I know these difficult times can cause anxiety, fear, depression, but I want to encourage you to have faith in our savior Jesus Christ always! He is with you and He is for you!” said Rodriguez in the post.
