Warming shelters to open due to cold weather

Warming shelters are being set up ahead of the anticipated cold weather expected Monday night, Tuesday, and Wednesday. 

Here is the current list of locations:

CITY OF HARLINGEN

Loaves and Fishes

Intake will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday until 9 p.m.

No pets allowed, please bring ID.

CITY OF MCALLEN

Salvation Army

1600 N. 23rd Street

Intake beings at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

No pets allowed

CITY OF MERCEDES

Mercedes Dome

1202 Vermont

Intake will begin at 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. 

People must bring their ID and warming blankets. 

No pets allowed. 

If no one uses the center, it will close at 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Those headed to the Mercedes Dome can bring their own bedding, but absolutely no pets are allowed inside the dome.

CITY OF WESLACO 

First Baptist Church

600 South Kansas Street

Intake will take place from 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday night until 10 p.m. and remain open until 7 a.m. 
The shelter is open to families, women, and men.
