Local and state leaders are educating voters about Proposition 8.
The constructional amendment, which will be on the November ballot, would create the flood infrastructure fund.
It’s meant to provide financing for drainage, flood mitigation or flood control projects.
According to lawmakers, passing prop 8 would help Texas prepare for future floods without raising taxes.
“It doesn’t come from sales tax, it doesn’t come from property tax, it’s purely oil, gas severance tax right now,” said State Representative Dade Phelan.
Early voting for Prop 8 begins Monday, October 21.
Election day is November 5.
