‘Viva McAllen’ Event to Promote Health and Fitness in the Rio Grande Valley

Local News

In efforts to promote health and fitness in the Rio Grande Valley, the McAllen Police Department will be hosting its annual ‘Viva McAllen’ event this weekend.

Families are being invited to join police officers in various exercise activities such as cycling, running and walking. The event is also a great way to get educated about safety on the streets for both pedestrians and motorists.

Victor Rodriguez McAllen Police Chief says, “When we are engaging with someone in the community, 99% percent of the time it’s because something negative has happened. Every moment we spend with kids like that or with the community, generally, when we’re not answering a call, it’s a positive moment. That’s what Viva McAllen will do for us on Saturday.”

The event will be this Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the McAllen Convention Center.
