UPDATE:
Bond has been set by a judge for Sylvia P. Atkinson, the Vice President of the Brownsville ISD School Board.
According to court records, bond was set at $50,000 with $5,000 being cash.
Court records also revealed that Judge Rolando Olvera has recused himself from the case. However, it’s unclear why.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Feb. 10, 2020.

Sylvia P. Atkinson, the Vice-President of the Brownsville Independent School District Board, Assistant Superintendent for Rio Hondo ISD, and Executive Director of High School Programs and Community Outreach at Texas Southmost College appeared in federal court Wednesday morning.
According to court documents, Atkinson is charged with one count of conspiracy, one count of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, and six counts of travel act-state law bribery.
She pleaded not guilty to all charges, said records.
Atkinson remains in custody of the U.S. Marshals, according to court documents.
