Veteran’s Ashes Abandoned in Storage Unit in 2012, Given Proper Funeral on Flag Day

A veteran’s ashes found in an abandoned storage unit, were given a proper funeral 5 years after his death.

Airmen Frank Solis was born in Mercedes in 1929 and died in 2012 in Kentucky. After more than a month of searching for next of kin, the county coroner found relatives in Kentucky.

The family gave permission for his ashes to be buried on Flag Day at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Solis served in the U.S. Air Force between 1948 and 1951.
